Youthful skin starts within
Sculptra® Aesthetic works subtly and gradually over time for a more youthful-looking appearance. Unlike hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers, Sculptra Aesthetic helps stimulate your skin’s own natural collagen production to help restore its inner structure and increase facial volume that has been lost to aging.
Sculptra Aesthetic is intended for use in people with healthy immune systems as a one-time treatment regimen of up to four injection sessions that are scheduled about three weeks apart.
THE NOT-SO-SECRET CAUSE OF FACIAL AGING
One of the primary reasons for visible facial aging is loss of collagen, a fibrous protein in the deep dermis that gives structure to skin and supports the functions of elastin and hyaluronic acid (HA). Elastin is an elastic protein that maintains skin shape, while HA cushions and lubricates to keep the skin hydrated. More collagen enables the presence of more elastin and HA.
What to expect at your appointment?
A trained physician administers Sculptra Aesthetic in a series of injection sessions. On average, three treatment sessions are needed over a few months, but your nurse will tailor the sessions to suit your desired outcome. As with any injection, some pain is possible, but your physician may use a topical anesthetic to ease any discomfort. You should not receive treatment if you have an active skin infection or skin inflammation near the planned injection site.
Immediately after each treatment session, you may experience swelling. Swelling usually subsides within a few days, and the wrinkles will temporarily reappear as the gradual process of collagen replacement continues. You may begin to see progressive, visible results within the first few weeks after each treatment session.
